Open
Source Conference - A Major Event in Cheshire, March 2006
A major event
in Cheshire for all musicians who work with young people, or in formal
and non-formal education, including music teachers, instrumental tutors,
community musicians, and music leaders.
The landscape
is changing rapidly for young people’s music making and education.
The Music Manifesto Campaign is highlighting the best practice from different
areas, and many voices are now shouting the same thing: let’s join
together to learn from each other and develop the best range of opportunities
for young people to get music.
Amplifier has
been working across the County for over 12 months to develop the infrastructure
and train the workforce of music leaders. This event is the culmination
of that work, and brings together Music Leader NW, Sound Sense and a range
of Cheshire music agencies for a day of networking, discussion, and practical
sessions.
The event will
be on Friday 10th March 2006, at Crewe Alexandria FC. To register an interest
please contact Amplifier: info@amplifier.org.uk,
telephone 01925 442287.
Open Source
Definition: adj., computer programming term referring to an application
where the source code that makes it work is made accessible to other programmers
for improvement and development, eg the operating system Linux. The idea
is that thousands of people across the globe can access and develop the
programme via the internet, thus improving it for everybody.
