OPENSOURCE
music youth education participation

CREWE ALEXANDRA STADIUM, GRESTY ROAD, CREWE, CHESHIRE.
FRIDAY 10th MARCH 2005, 9.30am-5.00pm,
FREE (but please book through Sound Sense below)

The most important gathering for music, youth and education people in Cheshire for years. A day of presentations, debate and networking, in the spirit of sharing of best practice and insight.

The Music Manifesto campaign is urging the formal and non-formal music education sectors to work together to develop a ‘world class workforce in music education’ and to improve the support structures for young people’s music making. It has been recognised that community music practices can help interest school pupils in music making. Music Leader is paving the way for musicians to access professional development and training. And music making is being employed in health, youth justice, disability and community settings more and more effectively. This event aims to bring together musicians and project leaders across Cheshire and help cement productive partnerships for the future.

Let’s talk - now’s the time!

Who’s it for?
Musicians; Music teachers and tutors (primary and secondary); workshop and rockschool leaders; youth and health workers; community liaison officers; orchestral education officers; music graduate support officers; in fact anyone offering music activity to young people, or involved in arts or youth or education policy and programming.

KEY SPEAKERS:Marc Jaffrey, Music Manifesto Champion; Kathryn Deane, Director of Sound Sense; Tina Redford, Director of MusicLeader NW; Pete Moser, community musician and Director of More Music Morecambe; Rob Nash, Manager: Cheshire Music Education Partnership.
