Acoustic duo Damian Morgan & Mike Doyle perform songs from their album ‘Saturation Point’.
Damian Morgan (vocals) & Mike Doyle (guitar) have attracted a host of admirers that include Doves, Cherry Ghost, actor/comedian Sean Hughes, ex-Smiths drummer Mike Joyce and Inspiral Carpets singer Tom Hingley. Tom was moved to describe Damian & Mike’s songs as “emotionally deep, yet funny too. In the vein of Scott Walker and Divine Comedy, with incredibly inventive and skillful guitar. The album is an accomplished debut”. Tom liked the duo so much he has invited them to support him on numerous occasions.
Damian & Mike chose The Globe to preview the album because of it’s strong support for acoustic music, and as Mike has lived in the area for more than 20 years it seemed the obvious choice. Mike Doyle: “I enjoy going to The Globe for it’s great live music and it’s excellent food. We’re really looking forward to this gig and expect a good local crowd.”
A single in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society will be released in early August (with release date TBC) on London-based label PRONOIA RECORDS, with distribution by CARGO (who also handle BLINK 182, APHEX TWIN, BOB DYLAN and MANIC STREET PREACHERS amongst many others).
The single is called ‘The Dimming Of The Light’ and chronicles the decline of Damian’s mother who is now in the later stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
All profits from each download of the single will go to the charity (a full £1.00 per download)
The release has the full backing of the Alzheimer’s Society, who will be promoting it with full TV and press coverage. They expect in excess of 20,000 downloads from their members alone!
The entire album will be available on I-TUNES, NAPSTER and all the major download sites, with a limited edition run of cds available by mail order or at gigs. Albums will be available to buy at this gig.
