JCC, Glastonbury & more!

Darren Poyzer with John Cooper ClarkeDarren Poyzer @ www.poyzer.com
singer-songwriter / special needs music teacher

Hola!

Yes I know I know, two newsletters in the same month, as if there isn't enough spam already ... no apologies though, I need to get round a few changes to the prevously advertised.

Firstly I've postponed 3 shows to accomodate 5 UK tour dates with John Cooper Clarke, these being:

  • Thurs Feb 26th - Sheffield Boardwalk
  • Fri Feb 27th - Preston 53 Degrees
  • Sat Feb 28th - Edinburgh Cabaret Voltaire
  • Sun Mar 1st - Glasgow The Arches
  • Fri March 13th - Runcorn Brindley Arts Centre

Tickets details can probably be best acquired via the venues, however the link at Ents 24 is a good one-stop source also. Ents 24: www.ents24.com/web/artist/6536/John_Cooper_Clarke.html

And to follow on from the February Newsletter I can now confirm that I will be playing at this year's Glastonbury Festival, and with rumours that both Springsteen and Neil Young on the bill, I'll be in good company in that festival kinda way, y'know :-).

I've also now added the updated poster for The Acoustic Festival of Britain to the site where I make a debut with the likes of Deacon Blue, Chris Difford, The Christians, Imelda May and many more, ensuring a fantastic weekend in May.

lotsofluvnstuff, dp x

Fair XaverianPeter Hook promotes our version of Love Will Tear Us Apart

It's a recording that for personal reasons we've kinda kept under wraps, in the feint hope we might sell it somewhere, but it's out of the bag now and why not ... well, after all, none of us can claim writing credits can we!

Here it is then, the acclaimed Poyzer, Fluff and Farrell version of Love Will Tear Us Apart, championed by Hooky himself as a country version!

Bloody Love Songs - it's proper happening at long last!

Bloody Love Songs cd coverThose who've visited the website recently will have noted the studio updates. Yes, after 5 years of substantial writing and recording wilderness, I've finally got the creative zest, the confidence, the surroundings and the opportunity to put some more things 'out there' for general enjoyment and hopefully, appreciation!

The locallity of the recordings is Autumn Rd Studio in Wrexham, where I'm working closely with Nino Errico, who has proved to be an outstanding, dedicated producer and Pro Tools engineer. So far additional contributions courtesy of Matt Thelwell, Rachel Llloyd and Jono Massey have brought some lovely magic to tape, and there's more to come. It's all very wonderful and after an eternity of very little studio activity, it's good to be back in the mix.

For a full and ongoing diary of work in progress, with demo recordings to come and news of release info, promo concerts etc, check out the page at www.poyzer.com/website/bloodylovesongs.htm

Come and Play open mic shows with us ...

I am currently hosting two very special open mic concerts, featuring an excellent selection of songwriters and musicians, in Winsford.

One is at DeBees where the sound system is top rate, the people who attend like to listen and respect the occasion, and this being a proper music venue, it's a big step up from noisy disrespectful pub gigs.

The other is across the road at The Red Lion, where we perform 'un-plugged' and totally acoustic, thus bringing a more intimate and delicate atmosphere.

Of course if you come to play, we do look to share the respect thing, so please, a word ... if you wanna turn up, talk to your mates, play then show no interest in other people, don't bother.

This is not a lot to ask, and because we run the night this way, it's a winner for everyone who participates.
