Richard DiganceRichard Digance
by way of an invitation to our concert on Friday October 30th

Friday 30th October - 7.30 for 8pm
Richard Digance + Darren Poyzer + NaTo
Bailey Room, Poynton Royal British Legion, George's Road, Poynton, Cheshire, SK12 1JY

I guess if like me you remember seeing Richard on tele back in the day, you'll look forward to this with great relish. A very decent, witty and charimatic live performer, he is both family friendly and world-wise, and I've been looking forward to the privilege of appearing at this event for quite some time.

Richard has performed to an audience of half a million at Knebworth with The Beach Boys, and at the other end to an audience of eight in the Falklands. He's done lots in between too that has led him to a BAFTA Nomination, a Gold Award from the British Academy of Songwriters, a SONY Radio Award and nine letter words on Countdown. He has survived all trends in comedy and music and remains one of Britain's most unique entertainers performing his songs, rhymes and stories like nobody else.
Tel: 0845 130 9517 or 01625 873120 for tickets. Go to Ticketline.co.uk to book online, £13 (adv) £15 on door.

Darren Poyzer being filmed live in session for Our HouseRaise Your Banners
celebrating the power of political music and the campaigning arts

Monday Novermber 2nd-8th 2009
Bradford West Yorkshire

As part of this year's festival, yours truly will hopefully, if we get the date and time sorted, be filling in gaps with songs and banter! Nevertheless, this is a great festival, please read on ...

The ethos of Raise Your Banners is one of inclusion and cohesion; it is international in outlook and supports oppressed people wherever they may be. It is not party political. There is a rich tradition of British radical ballads, songs, poetry, drama and art created by common people so that some particular piece of history can be passed on from generation to generation.

This tradition is not exclusive to Britain; people express their hopes and fears and celebrate their success in every community in every country.Raise Your Banners is a festival of political song, a celebration.

Check out the line-up and event info at www.raiseyourbanners.org.

We first played for MhIST two years agao, and it was one of those all-time lovely events. Long overdue, here we are again, the doors are open, the candles are lit, please join us ...

Percussive InstrumentsThe Poyzer day-job
special needs music work is what exactly?

I meet most new friends and good people these days through live performance, and having talked a little on stage about the day job, here's a few words on that very subject.

Primarily I am self-employed, and my regular work is music teaching activity based with children and adults, through the autistic spectrum, learning and behavioural difficulties and into the most serious areas of cerebral palsy and disability.

I have been in residence at Delamere Forest School in Cheshire for just over 3 years, where our children are aged 8-18. My work here is small group based, in some cases 1-1, and goes from instrument tuition on guitar, bass and keyboard, to activities using music improvisation and creative play.

I also work for Drake Music Project, and through Drake I work with adults at Stockport CP as a member of The Prospectors, a live performance group consisting of around 10 adults with cerebral palsy. With this group we use advanced music technology such as sound beams and midi creator switches, to enable each group member to take part.

Through Drake I have also work with Manchester Camerata on a school project in Chester, placing able bodied and children side by side, working together to create a live performance show.

I have also recently taken up a new weekly position with Penarth Group School in Hazel Grove, working here with children who have severe learning and behavioural difficulties, I provide support for autistic girl singer in Prestwich, and work occasional group projects in Crewe and Nantwich.

If that's not enough, I also lead the Bickerton Youth Music Group here in Cheshire, and welcome children and adults to learn and play music at my own very modest home studio.

Bloody Love Songs cd coverBloody Love Songs
what the hell happened?

Bloody crisis of confidence, that's what. I'm still restless and writing up ideas to add to this collection of songs, and I only hope it proves worthwhile.

I guess the personal life and the mental exhaustion have caused a stumble. The songs and the recordings however remain, and there will be some sort of manufactured cd distribution for the collectors amongst you, hopefully by the end of the year ... but don't hold you breath, I'm a bit crap and getting things together right now :-(
