Thursday
April 7th - John Otway
(£6 adv) Tickets Are Available!
Otway's
first hit 'Cor Baby That´s Really Free', in partnership with Wild
Willi Barrett, is one of those timeless recordings that span generations.
Now 25 years on and with a 2nd Top Ten hit to his credit, the manic madman
returns to conquer The Globe once more.
Few
give better value for money and are as refreshing and entertaining as
Otway - this is a show not to be missed.
And
if you have yet to hear it, check out the theme tune for the new Intel
Ad Campaign ... does
this song and artiste sound familiar?

Friday
April 8th - Stans Soul Night (£2)
The
Lifts very own 'Stan' is here to get them feet moving with some classic
soul and funk tunes that are begging to be danced to. Stan’s
notoriety for his versatility in every genre of music should fill the
dance floor in no time at all. A
great night for young and old a like.
Saturday
April 9th - The Maker (£3)
The
Maker has played before here at the Globe and has repeatedly impressed
everyone who has seen them. I would defiantly put them (along with a couple
of bands that I have seen) in the 'should have been signed to a major'
category. Tight, polished and very much a band to watch.
Sunday
April 10th - Quinta Jazz (downstairs 8.30pm free admission)
Try
a relaxing sunday with free entertainment from Quinta Jazz, purveyors
of quality modern and contemporary jazz!
Friday
April 15th - sorry! Private Party
Saturday
April 16th - The Lift Presents ... La Boum (£7/£8)
Featuring
past and present members of the Peatbog Faeries
, the Poozies , and the Eliza Carthy Band , this Scottish ten-piece have
their roots in the folk traditions of the Celts but their hearts are in
Africa. Congolese rumba , Malian desert blues , and Zimbabwean jit jive
are just a few of the ingredients that make up the warmest sunniest sound
this side of Senegal.

Saturday
April 23rd - Real Crazy Apartment + Oddness (£4)
Now
here is a great night out for anyone! An 'in yer face' rollicking good
mod / guitar band with a cool and groovy soul inspired sound. A band who
have chiselled there way through the rest of the pile to be thrown at
the top of a very demanding music scene only to handle the responsibility
with a pride that shines through their performance. Take a look at anywhere
they have played and you will see just what a night this is going to be.
"...back
to the Cobs for the Saturday night do with the men of the moment, The
Real Crazy Apartment.
I
had been looking forward to seeing these chaps again since their inspirational
show at the Purple Pussycat in London, where they impressed everybody,
the calm and the wild, with their 'something for everyone' set. They've
since added a fifth member. In the soundcheck, the audience of the bar
staff and bouncers were treated to 'Midnight to Six Man' and loved it.
Shortly after that, it would be to several hundred mods..."
"...The
grooves kept on going. Then showtime with The RCA. On they came, looking
every inch the smart mod group, the drummer in a suit and a tie no less!
Classic instruments, decent haircuts and, most important killer tunes:
Beat and Soul covers and exciting originals.
An authentic look and sound - what more can you ask for? If they'd gone
on all night that would have been OK with me, but give the DJ's a chance!
The RCA bowed out to my wild appreciation..."

Friday
April 29th - Acoustic Night 3
Jon Gomm + Lorna + Dan Webster
Instead
of trying to do justice to these incredible artists I shall simply let
their own reviews do the talking ...
Jon
Gomm
Jon Gomm is a singer-songwriter and acoustic solo performer, with an incredible
virtuoso guitar style. He uses one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds,
basslines and sparkling melodies all at the same time. His live performances
have been consistently leaving audiences amazed and delighted.
“Sheer
bloody genius… sublime, impassioned songwriting” - Sandman
Magazine
“If
you closed your eyes there’d be an ensemble playing... A huge emotional
range, swinging between sentimental and just plain mental. This is style
and content, solo work at its best” - LeedMusicScene.com
“The
most inspiring virtuoso guitar performance it has ever been my pleasure
to witness... with a voice to die for” - Drowned in Sound
“This
guy has it all - great heartfelt vocals, inspired and original songs,
and guitar playing as good as you will ever hear. The new Hendrix.”

Dan
Webster
“Being a fan of the art of the singer/songwriter, I took an instant
liking to the style and music of Dan Webster when I heard his input to
the recent ‘Natural Resinace’ album. Musicians Like Webster
are true performers; troubadour was the old way to describe such as him.”
Classic Rock FM
Lorna
Formerly a member of Midlands group Isambarde, Lorna abandoned traditional
folk music to write original material with the creative input and accompaniment
of guitarist Chris Green. Together they blend blues and trad-american
influences with more than a touch of contemporary folk-rock. Bewitching
vocals, memorable tunes and lyrics derived from life and literature make
for a powerful listening experience.
